Frequently Asked Questions
The questions parents ask us most often. If yours is not here, please get in touch.
Can my child continue speaking their home language while in your care?
At the request of parents, our team can communicate with your child in a different language to support language continuity and development. We understand the importance of preserving a child's home language while helping them build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and maintain a meaningful connection to their culture and family.
Foreign languages spoken: Yoruba & Igbo
My schedule can change due to my work timetable, is this a problem?

How do you manage allergies and dietary requirements?
Every child's health, safety, and wellbeing are our top priorities. We work closely with parents and carers to understand each child's individual allergies, intolerances, dietary requirements, cultural preferences, and medical needs before they begin their journey with us.
All allergy and dietary information is carefully recorded and regularly reviewed to ensure it remains accurate and up to date. We take every reasonable precaution to minimise the risk of allergen exposure, including careful food preparation, thorough hygiene practices, and clear procedures for handling and serving meals and snacks.
Our food and snack timetable will be sent to all parents and carers to ensure that the food we prepare are suitable and meet the standards for every child.
Can I contact you during the day?
Absolutely. At Cherie Childminding we encourage open contact between our team and parents/ carers as we understand that leaving your child in someone else's care is a big step, and we want you to feel confident and reassured throughout the day.
Parents are welcome to contact us if they have a question or would like an update. While our priority is always providing attentive care for the children, we will respond as soon as it is safe and practical to do so. If there is ever an urgent matter concerning your child, we will contact you immediately.
We also believe in keeping families connected to their child's day. With your consent, we regularly share updates through photos, videos, artwork, and information about your child's activities, achievements, and developmental progress.
I’m running late to collect my little one(s), is that an issue?
We understand that unexpected circumstances can sometimes happen, such as traffic delays, emergencies, or situations outside of your control. At Cherie Childminding, we appreciate that these moments can occur, and we ask that parents/carers contact us as soon as possible if they expect to be late for collection.
We provide a 10-minute grace period after our scheduled closing time to allow for unforeseen delays. If your child has not been collected after this time, a late collection fee of £10 will apply for the first hour. Continued late collection beyond this period will result in additional charges.
Late collection fees help to recognise the additional time and resources required to ensure your child continues to receive safe, and high-quality care outside of our usual operating hours.
